…for the Holy One of Israel is among you in his greatness. – Isaiah 12.6, CSB

Shouldn’t this change my whole day? Shouldn’t this change my perspective on everything I know I have to face today, as well as what I have no idea I’m about to go through?

God is not distant. There is no place in the universe or beyond where God is not present. He encompasses everything. And he’s not just everywhere today; he’s everywhere at all times, all at once. God is eternal and is the Creator of time, matter, and space. They are in a surrendered and worshipful posture before him. All power belongs to him. There is nothing in all of creation that God is not sovereign over. If there were anything that God could not do, he would then be subservient to something, making that thing or person superior to him. His omnipotence allows for nothing to have mastery over him. And all knowledge and wisdom are his. He sees all and knows all. He knows every outcome of every situation as well as the “possible outcomes” of every situation. He knows the intentions of every heart and the worries of every mind. He knows every word of every language on earth. He knows what every growl of the lion means as well as each chirp of every bird that I’m listening to as I write this. He knows why birds migrate and how whales hold their breath for so long. He creates the beauty of every sunrise and sunset. He sees and meets us in every pain. He knows when every sparrow flies and falls. He is the sculptor of every mountain and the designer of every valley stream. And the list goes on and on.

He sees every heartbreak, collecting every tear that falls while mending our hearts in the process. He celebrates with us in our victories, both great and small. He lavishes us with his grace and comforts us with his presence. He offers forgiveness for our failures and comfort in all our suffering. He supplies us with everything necessary to live godly lives set apart for him. He provides new mercies every morning, regardless of what the day before looked like. He provides strength for the weak and hope for the hopeless. He leads and guides. He guards and protects. He convicts and encourages, confronting us and disciplining us for our good, because he is a good and great Father. He provides laughter and joy in both good and difficult times. As deep calls to deep, he draws us deeper into intimate fellowship with himself. He loves us without regret or limit, and He will never leave us or forsake us. And the list goes on and on.

And he is among us in his greatness.

May the greatness of his presence shape everything about us today, and again tomorrow.

Give thanks to the LORD; proclaim his name! Make his works known among the peoples. Declare that his name is exalted. Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things. Let this be known throughout the earth. Cry out and sing, citizen of Zion, for the Holy One of Israel is among you in his greatness. – Isaiah 12.4-6, CSB
